| One of Bathurst's most
famous corners, the corner entering McPhillamy Park is the highest point
of the race. Named after the man who donated the land for the circuit,
then known as Bald Hill, McPhillamy Park is now a picnic area and lookout
point.
Drivers take this section of the
track in fourth gear, at speeds up to 200km/h before the car briefly leaves
the road over the crest of the rise, leading into the left-bending curve
that goes into Skyline. This corner could be said to have decided the outcome
of the 1969 race when Barry Seton rolled his Works GTHO here after a tyre
failed. |
