The little stretch from The Dipper to is
important for the entrance into Forrest Elbow. Get this wrong and you throw
away your momentum around Forrest Elbow and indeed all the way down Con-Rod
Straight. There is a right hand kink just before the crest going into the
Elbow, and it is important to be lined up for the turn before the change
in gradient. On Friday practise of the 1998 FAI 1000, Kevin Nash got his
Autopro Commodore crossed up, rolled it over once and dislodged his right
front tyre on the concrete wall at Forrest Elow.
A few years ago there was a marking on the wall of the
last left hand kink as seen in the above photo. This marking represented
thousands of V8 Supercar and Production Rims scraping at the concrete.
Well after the Wall was breached, the increased the height of the walls
and this little bit of history was destroyed.
